Sweden October 2015

A new sales champ?

BMW X5 xDrive40e (Aka Plug-In) Lands With a Bang Edition

The Swedish EV market registered 731 units, up 33% YoY, while also being the third consecutive month of monthly growth.

The EV Share is up again to 2.18%, a new record that places Sweden as the Fifth market with highest percentage of plug-in share, only behind Norway, Netherlands, Iceland and Hong Kong.

The Outlander PHEV (276 units) continues leading the Monthly ranking, something it has been doing since November '13, but below it there is lot going on, the Nissan Leaf reached #2 with 72 units, while the Volvo V60 Plug-In climbed to Third, being the first time this year that the swedish estate climbed the podium.

Also of notice is the remarkable Fifth position of the BMW X5 Plug-in, with 42 units, right in it's full sales month, is this a isolated waiting list stock clearance or an indication for the future?

Comparing this month Top 5 with that of October '14, three models repeat their presence: The Outlander PHEV was #1, the Leaf, Third and the V60 Plug-In, Second, with the rest of the podium was composed by the Renault Zoe and BMW i3.

Looking at the YTD chart, everything stays the same in the Top 5 positions, although the Tesla Model S and Nissan Leaf are now only separated by one unit in the race for #2 and the title of Best Selling Pure Electric Vehicle.

The Nissan e-NV200 / Evalia had a slow sales month, selling only 10 units, its worst result since February, dropping two positions to #8, to the benefit of the Renault Zoe and BMW i3, now respectively Sixth and Seventh.

The Audi A3 e-Tron seems unharmed by the Dieselgate, posting a respectable sales month (34 units), rising to #9 and dropping the VW e-Golf cousin to #10.

The Renault Kangoo ZE also climbed one position to #12, with a year best sales month, by registering 26 units, but the truly impressive result came from the BMW X5 Plug-In, shooting to #15 and promising a lot in the next few months.

On the manufacturers ranking, there weren't many significant changes, with Mitsubishi on top (30%, up 1%), Nissan in Second with 17% (Down 1%) and Tesla in Third, with 13%, with the #4 Volkswagen losing a bit of steam, down 1% to 11% Share.
