Japan October 2015

Outlander PHEV Number One

Another month in the red, with sales down 30% YoY to 1.785 units, and the EV Share at a paltry 0.52%, a long way down from the 0,98% of last year.

Besides low gas prices, another reason for this poor performance is the 30kWh version of the Nissan Leaf, only set to arrive in December and leading customers to wait for the new version, until then, Nissan's electric hatch is left with slow sales, like the 359 units recorded last month, down 69%(!) regarding October '14, On the other hand, the Mitsu Outlander PHEV is now firm in #1, and unless the Leaf pulls out a record-breaking performance in December, Mitsu will see its plug-in SUV finally be crowned as the Best Selling EV in its home market, after two previously failed attempts and recover the Best Selling Manufacturer Trophy, after losing in 2014 to the arch-rival Nissan.

  1. In that table, it's hard to tell how the Oct numbers align in the 6-10 rankings. There are 6 lines, 5 numbers and 2 half-gaps at the top & bottom.

Depending on how you read the alignment, Tesla could have sold 25 or 50 units...

Also why are there 2 #10s? You seem to be ranking by YTD totals, but they are not tied in that column.

    Please fix. Thanks!

PS Let me repeat the last part: Thanks! Your website is great and very much appreciated by me, and anyone who is interested in or investing in these new technologies & companies.

    Cheers!

    According to http://www.japa.gr.jp/data/pdf/1512.pdf
there were 52 Prius plug-ins and 2 Accord PHEVs in October

    and as for November:

    Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 814

    Toyota Prius Plug-In  46
    Mitsubishi I-Miev 23
    Mitsubishi Minicab Miev 27
    Mit. Minicab Miev Truck 8
    Honda Accord Plug-In 1

That's all I got. Hope it helps!

    1. Thanks, i have still two things missing in Japan:

1 - How many Leafs were sold in December?

2 - Where can i get data from the imported models? (Tesla, BMW...)

    2. Unfortunately the website I gave you only has the November data as the latest one, otherwise I've got no idea.

I just came across them as I'm trying to get a sense of Japan's 2015 sales data...
